Why watches need this

Provenance Is the Biggest Driver of Watch Resale Value.

A watch without documented provenance sells for less — sometimes significantly less — than the same reference with a complete, verifiable ownership history. Box, papers, and service records matter. But paper documents can be lost, forged, or separated from the watch. An Ownich Digital Ownership Certificate creates a permanent, tamper-evident record that cannot be separated from the watch it describes.

What it covers

What a Watch Certificate Records

Serial number verification

The serial number is recorded at registration and cryptographically sealed. Any attempt to alter or re-engrave the serial creates a conflict that is immediately detectable.

Box and papers documentation

Upload photos of the box, inner and outer, along with the original papers. These are permanently linked to the certificate and cannot be removed or substituted.

Service history

Every service record — date, service centre, work performed — is appended to the Ownership Passport. The complete service history travels with the watch through every ownership transfer.

Ownership transfer

When you sell the watch, initiate a transfer. The buyer accepts. The certificate chain is updated atomically. The new owner receives the complete provenance record, not just the watch.

Insurance and claims

Insurers can verify the watch's identity, condition, and ownership independently — without relying on paper receipts. Claims are faster and less likely to be disputed.

Auction and dealer verification

Auction houses and dealers can scan the QR code and verify the complete provenance chain independently. No account needed. No fee.
