The Consumer Ownership Layer for Digital Product Passports.
Ownich connects consumer ownership and provenance records with Digital Product Passport ecosystems — adding the living, consumer-side ownership layer that DPP frameworks require but cannot provide alone.
The DPP landscape
What Digital Product Passports Are — and What They Are Missing
Digital Product Passports (DPPs) are structured data records that follow a product through its lifecycle — from raw materials and manufacturing through to end-of-life and recycling. They are mandated under the EU Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation (ESPR) and are being adopted across fashion, electronics, batteries, and other sectors.
DPPs are excellent at capturing the supply chain story — where a product was made, what it contains, what its environmental footprint is, and how it should be disposed of. They are designed for manufacturers, regulators, and recyclers.
But DPPs have a gap. They are not designed to capture what happens after a product reaches a consumer. Who owns it now? Has it been transferred? What evidence of ownership exists? What is the item's provenance in the hands of real people? That is the consumer ownership layer — and it is missing from every DPP framework.

What DPPs Do Not Cover
Consumer ownership identity
DPPs record who manufactured a product. They do not record who owns it now, or who has owned it in the past. Consumer ownership is invisible to DPP frameworks.
Ownership transfer history
When a product changes hands — through resale, gifting, or inheritance — DPPs have no mechanism to record the transfer. The consumer provenance chain is broken.
Consumer evidence and attestation
Receipts, appraisals, condition reports, and other consumer-side evidence are not part of any DPP standard. They exist as paper documents, disconnected from the product record.
Resale and circular economy data
DPPs are designed to support circular economy goals — but without consumer ownership data, it is impossible to track how many times a product has been resold, or what its secondary market lifecycle looks like.
Consumer verification
DPPs can be verified by regulators and recyclers. They are not designed for consumer-to-consumer verification — the moment a buyer wants to confirm that a seller genuinely owns what they are selling.
Living record after point of sale
DPPs are largely static after manufacture. They do not grow with the product's life in consumer hands. The consumer chapter of a product's story is unwritten.
The Ownich layer
Ownich Is the Consumer Ownership Layer for DPP Ecosystems
Ownich does not replace Digital Product Passports. It completes them. Where a DPP records the supply chain story, an Ownich Ownership Passport records the consumer story — who owns the product, what evidence exists, how ownership has transferred, and what the complete provenance chain looks like from the consumer's perspective.
Together, a DPP and an Ownich Ownership Passport create a complete product record — from raw material to current owner — that supports circular economy goals, consumer protection, resale market integrity, and regulatory compliance.
Ownich is digital ownership infrastructure that gives physical items a persistent, verifiable identity, ownership history and provenance record. Its Ownership Passport records the item's ownership, provenance, certificates, evidence and transfers throughout its lifecycle. This is the consumer living ownership layer that DPP frameworks are missing.

How it connects
Connecting DPP Data with Consumer Ownership Records
Product leaves the manufacturer
The DPP is created at manufacture — materials, sustainability data, care instructions, end-of-life guidance. This is the supply chain record.
Consumer registers ownership
When the product reaches a consumer, they register it on Ownich. The Ownership Passport is created. The DPP identifier is linked. The consumer chapter begins.
Ownership and evidence accumulate
The consumer adds evidence — receipt, photos, appraisal. The Ownership Passport grows. The DPP now has a consumer ownership layer attached to it.
Product is resold
The consumer sells the product. The Ownership Passport transfers to the new owner. The DPP identifier travels with it. The circular economy event is recorded.
Complete record available
At any point, the complete record is available — DPP supply chain data plus Ownich consumer ownership history. From raw material to current owner, in one verifiable chain.
For brands and manufacturers
What Ownich Adds to Your DPP Programme
Consumer ownership visibility
Know how many times your products have been resold, who owns them now, and what the secondary market lifecycle looks like — data that no DPP framework currently captures.
Circular economy evidence
Demonstrate circular economy performance with verified data — not estimates. Every resale event is recorded, timestamped, and permanently attached to the product record.
Anti-counterfeiting at consumer level
DPPs verify product authenticity at manufacture. Ownich verifies ownership authenticity at consumer level — closing the gap that counterfeiters exploit in the secondary market.
Consumer trust and engagement
Consumers who can verify provenance and register ownership are more engaged with your brand. An Ownership Passport is a reason to stay connected to the product after purchase.
Regulatory readiness
As ESPR and other DPP regulations expand to require consumer lifecycle data, Ownich provides the infrastructure to capture and report it — without building it yourself.
Resale market integrity
Verified provenance records protect your brand in the secondary market — ensuring that resold products carry authentic ownership history and cannot be misrepresented.
